The Rotary Club of Clearlake once again awarded scholarships to graduating students of the Konocti Unified School District.  The scholarships are awarded based on a essay and interview format. For the 2010/2011 year we awarded scholarships of $500 each to 10 students.

Our club was founded in 1973 and the scholarship program began in 1974. We have awarded over $250,000 in scholarships since then. In 1996 the Clearlake Rotary Club started the Charlie Bushman Scholarship fund to honor our past member, Charlie Bushman. who joined the club in 1977 and served as club secretary for many years. We set aside funds each year with the goal of having a reserve fund to perpetually fund our annual scholarships. Even though we have reached our monetary goal for the Charlie Bushman Scholarship Fund, based on current interest rates we also dedicate a portion of each year’s fund raising proceeds to fund the scholarship program.

Our annual Seafood Boil and See’s Candy sales are our biggest fund raisers and we appreciate all the community support that helps to make them the successes that they are.
